As part of the 91st Acfas Congress at the University of Ottawa from May 13 to 17, 2024, CIRANO organized a conference on the Valorization and Sharing of Data to Serve Value Chains in the Saint-Laurent Trade Corridor – Big lakes.
The Symposium was held on May 15 and has highlighted the fact that the valorization and sharing of supply chain data and cutting-edge data science methodologies would enable stakeholders involved in trade and transport to take better informed decisions for more reliable and efficient cross-border transport systems, more adapted to new technologies and innovations and more resilient to climate change. The presentations and discussions provided insights for optimizing trade in volume and value within the St. Lawrence – Great Lakes corridor and internationally, particularly with neighboring regions in the United States.
Chaired by Nathalie De Marcellis-Warin (Polytechnique Montréal), the conference has brought together Patrick Leblond (University of Ottawa), Julien Martin (UQAM - Université du Québec à Montréal), Dalibor Stevanovic (UQAM - Université du Québec à Montréal), Thierry Warin (HEC Montréal), Jeremy Schneider (CIRANO), Valérie Bélanger (HEC Montréal) and Aïchata Souleymane Koné (CIRANO)
At the end of the Conference, a happy hour was held to present the activities of the new CIRANO Cluster in data science for trade and intermodal transport to a panel of representatives from Transport Canada, Global Affairs Canada, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and Statistics Canada.
