To assist governments and partners in the current management of the COVID-19 crisis, CIRANO is mobilizing its multidisciplinary research capacity and varied expertise.
In the field of employment, to study the impacts of the closure of non-essential services, our researchers are mobilizing to respond to calls for research projects. Our researchers, fellows and invited fellows also speak out in the press to share their expertise in understanding the issues at stake and to propose possible solutions.
The Research Group on Human Capital adapted a tool, developed by researchers at the Vancouver School of Economics, that aims to evaluate occupation and industry risks and benefits associated with COVID-19. You can see the tool by following this link. You can also see the user guide of the Vancouver School of Economics and the website with their tool.
This work was made possible thanks to the team composed of two researchers and CIRANO fellows Catherine Haeck and Marie Connolly from the Research Group on Human Capital of ESG UQAM, Casey Warman (Dalhousie University), Pierre-Loup Beauregard (Vancouver School of Economics, University of British Columbia), and Tímea Laura Molnár (Analysis Group). The team thanks Statistics Canada, for data access, CIRANO for its financial support and the Analysis Group for providing Tímea Laura Molnár’s work pro bono.
