Cet atelier de deux jours était organisé en l'honneur de Ngo Van Long. Titulaire d'un Ph.D. en économie de l'Australian National University, il était professeur au département de science économique de l’Université McGill et chercheur et Fellow CIRANO. Professeur Long a apporté des contributions significatives et durables dans plusieurs domaines distincts mais connexes, en soulignant leur complémentarité et leurs intersections : l'économie des ressources et de l'environnement, la théorie du commerce international, la théorie de l'optimisation dynamique et des jeux dynamiques en économie, et la théorie de l'organisation industrielle.
