Nicolas Vincent, Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Economics at HEC Montréal and researcher at CIRANO, was awarded the Marcel-Dagenais Prize on August 25 in Montreal, during the annual conference of the Canadian Society for Economic Science (CSSE).
Nicolas Vincent received the award jointly with Professor Lars Ehlers of the Montreal university.
The prize recognizes the outstanding contribution of researchers to the economic scientific life in French in Quebec or Canada. The prize is awarded every three years by a jury that analyzes the quality of the candidates' scientific production over the previous six years.
"As a researcher, we often invest years in our research projects, so this is an important mark of recognition for my work. I am also particularly pleased to receive this prize because it is awarded by the French-speaking economic community, with which I have close ties, notably through my involvement on the Board of Directors of the SCSE," said Nicolas Vincent.
In his research, Nicolas Vincent advocates the use of microeconomic data to explain macroeconomic phenomena. In recent years his work has focused on inflation dynamics and income distribution.
Several CIRANO researchers have received the award in the past, Marine Carrasco (Université de Montréal), Pierre-Carl Michaud (HEC Montréal), Jean-Marie Dufour (McGill University), Jean-Yves Duclos (Université Laval), Éric Renault (Université de Montréal), Bernard Fortin (Université Laval) and Marcel Boyer (Université de Montréal).
