On 28 October 2024, CIRANO organised the launch of a new research initiative entitled « Le Québec des bâtisseurs ». Introduced by Henri-Paul Rousseau, professor at HEC Montréal and former CIRANO Visiting Fellow, and led by Raquel Fonseca, professor at ESG UQAM and CIRANO Fellow, this initiative brings together a team of specialists with diverse expertise. The aim of this innovative project is to explore the evolution of entrepreneurship in Quebec from various perspectives.

Three initial studies were unveiled at this inaugural event:

• Capital humain et entrepreneuriat by Raquel Fonseca and Moïse Drabo

• La propriété des employeurs du Québec, 2023 :la place des francophones by François Vaillancourt and Amélie Sintes

• Le parcours des barons québécois des médias by Pierre Lortie

Through these presentations, the researchers shed light on Quebec entrepreneurship, examining various themes such as the history of major entrepreneurial figures in the media, the decisive role of education, and the specific contribution of Francophones in this entrepreneurial sphere.

A second event is already planned for spring 2025, offering the opportunity to discover new studies resulting from this innovative project.
