On September 11, CIRANO launched its 2024-2025 thematic year on the theme of Efficiency at the heart of the Quebec health care system, with nearly 100 guests in attendance.
Gathered at the École de santé publique de l'Université de Montréal (ESPUM), Erin Strumpf, Professor at McGill University and CIRANO Researcher and Fellow, and Mehdi Ammi, Professor at Carleton University and CIRANO Associate Researcher, presented the conclusions of their study S'attaquer aux crises épidémiologiques: oui, mais à quel prix?
Then, a panel of experts participated in discussions on decisions and trade-offs in the allocation of spending between the major public health functions, in order to better understand the consequences of the choices that are made. Luc Boileau, National Director of Public Health, took part in the panel, as did Olivier Jacques, Professor at the USchool of Public Health of the Université de Montréal and CIRANO researcher, and Thomas Bastien, Executive Director of the Association pour la santé publique du Québec.
Thank you all for an interesting discussion!
