The food sector is one of the most strategic in any nation. Yet, whether it be supply issues, climate disruption or economic conjuncture, the agri-food sector faces many points of tension.

In a YouTube video, CIRANO's research center is addressing these issues as part of its 2023-2024 annual theme: Accelerating the transition towards a sustainable and innovative agri-food sector.

CIRANO researchers Annie Royer (Université Laval), Sophie Bernard (Polytechnique Montréal), Lota Tamini (Université Laval) et Ingrid Peignier, CIRANO's Senior Director of Partnerships and Research Valorization, are addressing the notions of food autonomy and sovereignty, sustainable agriculture and supply, digital transition, skills transformation and energy issues. The crucial importance of data is discussed as a backdrop, highlighting the transdisciplinary aspect of the agri-food sector.
