Utilisation et coûts des soins et services de santé durant la dernière année de vie
In this study, the authors examine the use of health services and associated costs in the last year of life of people 65 years of age and older. Using clinical-administrative data, they reconstructed the care trajectories of this population to estimate expenditures by age, sex, health region and cause of death. With the expectation that this age group will represent 25% of Quebec’s population by 2031, the results of this study shed light on the challenges of caring for seniors. The study was conducted as part of a partnership between the École de santé publique de l’Université de Montréal (ESPUM) and the Institut national d’excellence en santé et services sociaux (INESSS).
