Le Québec économique 10 - Chapitre 3 - Progrès économique et protection de l’environnement : enjeux et pistes de solutions découlant du congrès 2021 de l’Association des économistes québécois
Climate change caused by greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions will have a major impact on the economy and public health if strong action is not taken soon to prevent the situation from getting out of control. In this regard, the 2021 conference of the Association des économistes québécois focused on the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy, the strategic role of the financial sector and the leadership expected from governments. Speakers noted encouraging signs that both the private and public sectors, as well as consumers, seem committed to making the adaptations and taking the actions expected of them. In addition, recent experience and the prospects of emerging models suggest that the fight against climate change can still be won and may even lead to a more prosperous economy.
