On February 2, a delegation composed of three members of the Tokyo Metropolitan Taxation Research Office and an economist-researcher from the Mitsubishi Research Institute visited CIRANO. The delegation is visiting Quebec and the United States to learn about the taxation of charitable donations before submitting recommendations for changes to the Japanese system. The delegation met with François Vaillancourt, professor emeritus at the University of Montreal and CIRANO Fellow, and Antoine Genest-Grégoire, assistant professor at the University of Sherbrooke and researcher at the CFPP. They presented the main aspects of the taxation of charitable donations in Canada and Quebec.
