As part of the Quebec government's Biofood Policy, consumer confidence is measured using the "Baromètre de la confiance des consommateurs québécois à l'égard des aliments" (Barometer of Quebec consumers' confidence in food), a measurement tool developed at CIRANO by Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin, full professor at Polytechnique Montréal and CIRANO Fellow, and Ingrid Peignier, Senior Director of Partnerships and Research Valorization and CIRANO Project Director.
Since 2019, the Barometer has made it possible to measure Quebec consumers' confidence in food, and to identify the determinants of this confidence. It is also a decision-making tool for the government and stakeholders in the biofood sector.
On January 24, Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin and Ingrid Peignier presented the highlights of the 3rd edition of this Barometer at a training seminar for MAPAQ (Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation du Québec) employees.
