Conference organized as part of the 87th ACFAS Congress hold from May 27 to 31, 2019 in Gatineau
Access to data is an essential pillar in the development and implementation of public policies. In Quebec, as elsewhere, the challenges in health, education, employment or innovation are enormous, and access to relevant data is crucial. The data exists, but is it made accessible and used optimally?
This conference, organized by the CIRANO and the Quebec inter-University Centre for Social Statistics (QICSS), shed new light on the importance of access to quality data to inform public policy decision-making. This conference brought together experts from the academic and research communities within public administrations, but also key players in public policy decision-making, to offer critical and strategic reflection on these important issues.
Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin, Full Professor at Polytechnique Montréal and Chief Executive Officer of CIRANO, Benoit Dostie, Professor at HEC Montréal, CIRANO Fellow and Academic Director of the QICSS, and Carole Vincent, Economist, Coordinator of Strategic Planning at the QICSS, were responsible for this conference.
