This international conference organized by the Observatoire international sur les impacts sociétaux de l’IA et du numérique (OBVIA) in collaboration with its partners proposed to initiate a multidisciplinary and critical reflection on health data by raising the main issues generated by the acceleration of this digital transformation in health, and the creation and availability of these digital data.

Taking place over two days, this meeting aimed to enlighten the public debate on health data as a common good. Various expert speakers, practitioners and actors from civil society engaged in an important critical reflection on the organizational, philosophical and societal level on what digital health data are and the principles for building trust between the citizen, the clinician and the public decision maker. Trust remains a complex social phenomenon, difficult to measure and to grasp, but represents the cornerstone to ensure a profound reorganization of the health system based on reliable data and robust and secure systems. Two parts of the conference were dedicated to this form of social contract that takes place between the different stakeholders, and conditions the acceptability of access and use of health data, while being embodied as the basis for the safeguard of our health system: a common good in constant transformation.

Nathalie De Marcellis-Warin, Full Professor at Polytechnique Montreal and CIRANO Fellow, and Christophe Mondin, Research Professional at CIRANO, presented the results* of the Barometer on the Acceptability of Health Data Sharing, in collaboration with OBVIA.
