For the past three years, the Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM) and CIRANO have been collaborating to establish a strategy to foster the development of a highly qualified workforce in applied mathematics for advanced fields. The national initiative «En avant math!», under the direction of Genevieve Dufour, Director of Major Collaborative Projects at CIRANO, aims to promote mathematics and increase numeracy.
This project is financially supported by the ministère des Finances du Québec (MFQ).
This conference was about the work done during these three years of partnership as well as the next steps of the project.
Louise Poirier (full professor Université de Montréal and Assistant Director of the Numeracy CRM Project), Raquel Fonseca (full professor ESG UQAM and CIRANO Fellow), Catherine Haeck (associate professor ESG UQAM and CIRANO Fellow), Annie Savard (associate professor McGill University and CIRANO Fellow), François Vaillancourt (emeritus professor Université de Montréal and Fellow CIRANO), Benoit Dostie (full professor HEC Montreal and CIRANO Fellow) and Octave Cornéa (Université de Montréal) presented several reports published this year as part of this initiative but also the vision for the 2nd part of the project.
