Biography

A CIRANO Associate Researcher and Fellow since 2002, Ulf Böckenholt is Professor at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Holding a Ph.D. in Methodological Research and Quantitative Psychology from the University of Chicago, his main research interests focus on the development and application of statistical and psychometric methods to understand consumer behavior and improve marketing decision-making. Recent areas of research include modeling response bias in self-assessments, consumer choice processes for medical and financial decisions, emotional and motivational influences in judgment and choice, (fogs) information processing mechanisms induced by trust, and the effects of imagery on process persuasion.

He has published extensively in marketing, psychology, economics and statistical journals. Currently, Ulf Böckenholt is associate editor of Psychometrika, Behaviormetrika and the Journal of Behavioral and Educational Statistics. He is a former editor-in-chief of Psychometrika, a former president of the Psychometric Society and a member of the Association of Psychological Science.
