A CIRANO Researcher and Fellow since 1994, Michael Huberman is Full Professor in the Department of History at the Université de Montréal. He is also co-holder of the J.W McConnell Foundation's Chair on American Studies and Member of the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche en économie quantitative (CIREQ) and of the Montreal Centre for International Studies (CÉRIUM).
Holding a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Toronto, he is interested in the effects of globalization on workers conditions and well-being in an historical and comparative perspective.
He was a guest professor at the University of California in Los Angeles, at Davis, at Michigan State University, Cambridge University, at the University Libre de Bruxelles, at l'École des hautes études en sciences sociales and at the University of Geneva. In 2006-2007, he was awarded the Fulbright scholarship.
He is the author of Odd Couple (Yale University Press, 2012) which examines the link between the welfare state and globalization in a historical and comparative perspective.
